On Thursday, instead of writing, I ran an informal solo marathon—to Central Park and three loops there with a little double-back at the end. My final steps, and the final notes of the Mahler “Resurrection” symphony that I first heard nine years ago this month, brought me to a first glimpse of Bethesda Fountain through the treetops—a profound if not an accidental convergence.
Possibility is so big.
If you enjoy Western Coffee, please make a donation on my fundraising page for the nonprofit Achilles International, which is how I’m gaining entry to the New York City Marathon this year—my first. All donations go to the nonprofit and its work with disabled athletes; I’m paying my own race fees, etc.
